This 5-minute video is based on an actual session, but the client is not visible, just the therapist. It is meant to give you an experiential sense of what a Focusing-oriented therapist might do.
Keep in mind that this is Focusing-oriented therapy, not a peer-to-peer Focusing process, and not a course in which somebody is learning Focusing. In Focusing-oriented therapy, we provide a space, an ecosystem, in which it is possible for the client’s natural ability to Focus to emerge.
We don’t follow a formula, and we each have our style. But you can have a sense of how the ecosystem works.
Hopefully, this gives you a sense that Focusing is not just a tool, it is a mindful practice that trains the nervous system. The client’s experience becomes an embodied resource.
